TrainerControl is an indoor cycling application operated by Oleksandr Filippov (the "Service Provider"). This policy explains how the app handles your information when you connect training equipment, record workouts, use optional integrations or purchase a subscription. You do not need a separate TrainerControl account to use the app.

Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is Oleksandr Filippov, Pohulanka 6b 37, Gdansk 80-807, Poland. For privacy questions, support or requests concerning your personal data, email [email protected].

Workout and athlete information

The app processes power, cadence, speed, distance, heart rate when available, workout dates and duration, intervals, laps and training calculations. You can enter athlete settings such as weight, functional threshold power (FTP), maximum heart rate and heart rate zones. The app also stores FTP history, saved routes, imported GPX files and custom workouts. These records support workout control, history and progress features and are stored on your device.

The app communicates with compatible trainers, heart rate monitors and controllers over Bluetooth. It can read device names, Bluetooth identifiers, manufacturer information, serial numbers, firmware versions and supported features. Bluetooth access can be managed in your device settings; disabling it prevents equipment connections.

iCloud synchronization

When iCloud sync is enabled and you are signed in to iCloud, workouts, athlete settings, routes, custom workouts and workout layouts synchronize through Apple's CloudKit and iCloud key-value storage. Sync is enabled by default. You can turn it off in TrainerControl Settings and restart the app to apply the change.

Turning sync off stops future app synchronization after restart; it does not itself erase data already stored in iCloud or on other devices. Your Apple account and iCloud services are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Apple Health

On supported devices and operating systems, you can choose Apple Health as the source of your preferred heart rate zones. The app requests read permission for heart rate and reads the preferred workout zone configuration. It does not write workouts or other records to Apple Health. Imported zone boundaries become part of your athlete settings and may synchronize through iCloud when sync is enabled.

You can revoke Health access in Apple's Health or device privacy settings. Revoking permission prevents further reads but does not automatically remove zone values previously imported into TrainerControl. Health information is not used for advertising.

Strava and exports

Strava is optional. If you connect it, the app receives authorization tokens and basic athlete information, such as your athlete ID, username and name. Tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain. If you choose to import Strava heart rate zones, the app requests the additional profile permission needed to read them.

When you choose to upload a workout, the app sends a workout file to Strava, including recorded fitness metrics and route coordinates where present. The app records the resulting activity ID and upload status. The visibility and subsequent use of an uploaded activity depend on your Strava settings and Strava's Privacy Policy.

Disconnecting Strava in TrainerControl removes locally stored credentials. It does not delete activities already uploaded to Strava or revoke access in your Strava account. You can revoke the application's access and manage or delete activities in Strava. When you export a workout using the system share sheet, the recipient or application you select receives the exported file.

Maps and route elevation

TrainerControl does not request live device location access. It processes coordinates from routes you import or create. Map display and route directions use Apple MapKit. When you create a route, selected route coordinates are sent to the public Open Topo Data service to retrieve elevations, including intermediate coordinates for road-following routes. Network providers receive the connection information needed to deliver these services, including your IP address. Route coordinates can describe real places even when the workout itself is an indoor simulation.
